10 previously unknown photos about life in the USSR in Stalin's time

When the USSR was busy recovering from World War II, the American Martin Manhoff landed in Moscow with a suitcase full of the latest photo equipment and excellent skills in using it. By rail Martin traveled all over Russia, often on this journey he was accompanied by his wife Jen, who tried to capture what she saw and her impressions in writing.

In 1954, 2 years after his arrival, Manhoff was expelled from the Soviet Union for "espionage." After being exiled to the United States, pictures taken by an American did not show the general public for more than 60 years. This year, after Martin's death, colorful photographs of Soviet life were discovered by historian Douglas Smith and published.
